Album: Madvillainy - Madvillain

A 2004 release, Madvillainy is the product of MF Doom’s work with the producer Madlib. Finding a free download of this is hard: I can’t remember where I finally found it. Which is why I did this. Let’s see how long it stays up.

Madvillainy is stoner hip-hop; what else can you expect from MF Doom? But I mean that in the very best sense: far-out, bordering on avant-garde, rhymes, that every once in a while hit you with something brutally clever (“Mad plays the bass like the race card.” - “Great Day”); back beats that are nothing less than killer, but not at all in a distracting way.

Listen from beginning to end, but if you don’t have the time or the patience, start off with “All Caps” and “Shadows of Tomorrow.”
